Samsung Cheif Jailed

Samsung Cheif Jailed

The chief of the South Korean Samsung corporate empire convicted on Monday over a major corruption case and jailed for two and a half years.
Lee Jae-Yong, the vice-chairman of Samsung Electronics, the world’s biggest smartphone and memory chip maker, found guilty of bribery and embezzlement connected with the scandal that brought down president Park Geun-Hye.
It is unfortunate that Samsung, the country’s top company and proud global innovator, is repeatedly getting involved in crimes whenever there is a change in political power. For two and a half years, it imprisoned him, ending a retrial that was the next step in a long-running court process that has been hanging over Samsung for years.
