Permanent ban on Trump Snapchat account
The company decided to ban Trump’s Snapchat account permanently. Much has changed since Snap announced last week that President Trump’s Snapchat account was closed indefinitely. But after temporary bans on his Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts, as well as a permanent ban on Twitter, Snap has now announced that the ban on the President’s Snapchat account will also be permanent.
Help in Campaign
Although Trump’s social media preferences as a user are clear, Snapchat provided the Trump campaign with an especially efficient platform to target young users active in the service. As he finds himself removed from most mainstream social platforms, a permanent ban will undoubtedly complicate his future business and political ambitions.
Permanent Ban
Trump’s tragic tale follows last week’s riots in the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob, encouraged by the President. Since then, several businesses have severed ties with the Trump brand, while in his final days as President and beyond, social platforms have aimed to minimize Trump’s presence on their platforms. Snap says it decided in the light of repeated attempted violations of the company’s community guidelines made by the President’s account over the past several months.

We announced an indefinite suspension of President Trump’s Snapchat account last week and have been assessing what long-term action is in our Snapchat community’s best interest. In the interest of public safety, we have decided to permanently terminate his account, based on his attempts to spread misinformation, hate speech, and incite violence, which are clear violations of our guidelines, says a Snapchat representative.
